AMD Ryzen 9000 CPUs rumoured to be remarkably cheaper than Zen 4
Alleged prices of AMD’s Ryzen 9000 Zen 5 desktop processors have leaked online. The top-spec models will be $150 cheaper than their Zen 4 predecessors and hit shelves on July 31.
AMD revealed just about everything one needs to know about its Ryzen 9000 Zen 5 CPUs, except for one key component: price. A new leak from Anandtech Forums says they could be quite affordable- much lower than the amount predicted earlier by Moore’s Law is Dead.
- AMD Ryzen 9 9950X: $499
- AMD Ryzen 9 9900X: $399
- AMD Ryzen 7 9700X: $299
- AMD Ryzen 5 9600X: $229
If accurate, the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X will be a whopping $150 cheaper than their Zen 4 counterparts (Ryzen 9 7950X and Ryzen 9 7900X). The Ryzen 7 9700X gets a $100 price cut and the Ryzen 5 960X0 $70.
AMD claims the Ryzen 7 9700X is just as fast as the Ryzen 7 5800X3D in hand-picked gaming tests. In Cinebench R23, the Ryzen 9 9950X trounces the Core i9-14900K with unlocked power limits. Even the Ryzen 5 9600X trades blows with the 14th-gen Raptor Lake flagship in Geekbench.
Then again, prices are often tentative and subject to last-minute changes. It shouldn’t be long before we know for sure, as AMD has confirmed the Ryzen 9 9950X, Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X will hit shelves on July 31.
If these prices are accurate, Intel’s Arrow Lake runs the risk of being undercut by Zen 5. This also makes the non-X3D SKUs look more valuable compared to their X3D counterparts, which are slated to arrive in October this year alongside new X870 motherboards.
