Warner Bros. Games Announces Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns
Today, Warner Bros. Games announced that Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns, a new expansion, will be released. A new Kombat Pack, adding six new characters to the game, will be released alongside the expansion. The expansion will be released digitally on September 24 at 8 AM PDT / 10 AM CDT / 11 AM EDT / 4 PM BST for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation, and PC.
This new expansion adds a new cinematic narrative to the pre-existing story mode. After ridding of the invaders who endangered Fire God Liu Kang’s New Era of Peace, a new threat arrives in their place from an alternate timeline. The invaders are led by Titan Havik, who aims to bring the realm to its knees, prompting Liu Kang to rally his army once more to defeat the danger.
With the addition of Kombat Pack 2, returning combatants such as Noob Saibot, Cyrax, and Sektor will be joining the fray. In addition to the three returning fighters, guest fighters such as Ghostface, T-1000 (Terminator), and Conan the Barbarian are making their debut appearance in Mortal Kombat 1.
Unfortunately, those who aren’t interested in the story mode but want to get their hands on Kombat Pack 2 will have to purchase the entire Khaos Reigns expansion, as Kombat Pack 2 is not being sold as a standalone bundle. Khaos Reigns will cost $49.99 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and $39.99 for those who play the game on Nintendo Switch.
For those who already own Mortal Kombat 1, the fan-favorite feature of Animalities will be returning as a free content update for all game owners. This feature allows characters to morph into their spirit animal to decimate their defeated opponents. Animalities can be performed by all playable fighters and will be available on September 24 in conjunction with the expansion release.
In addition to these new add-ons, all owners of Mortal Kombat 1 will receive a free MK 95 Scorpion character skin inspired by the original Mortal Kombat movie, which will be available in-game today.
For those who are eager to get their hands on the expansion, you can pre-order it on all platforms as of today. The expansion will include both the Khaos Reigns expansion and the Kombat Pack 2. All pre-orders will receive four new character skins at launch, which includes Wedding Scorpion, Empress Mileena, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 versions of Sub-Zero and Noob Saibot.
Ghostface, T-1000, and Conan the Barbarian will be released post-launch, with a one-week early access period provided to those who own the Khaos Reigns expansion.
If you are someone who doesn’t yet own Mortal Kombat 1, you can additionally pre-order the Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns Bundle on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for $59.99 and Nintendo Switch for $49.99, which will grant you immediate access to the previous Kombat Pack. Additionally, for any new Mortal Kombat 1 players, the first Kombat Pack is now available as part of the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition, or you can purchase it separately.
